John Locke Essay Competition是什么？John Locke Institute是位于英國牛津的獨立教育組織，與英國牛津大學和美國普林斯頓大學等名校教授合作組織學術項目。John Locke Essay Competition的評審全部來自英國牛津大學，參賽對象為全世界范圍內思考能力強的中學生。在比賽中獲得distinction可以大幅提升美國和英國大學本科申請競爭力。往年參與學生錄取成績包括普林斯頓、哈佛、耶魯、斯坦福、芝加哥、伯克利、牛津、劍橋等世界名校。2020年投稿已開放，要求提交一篇2000詞以下的議論文，7月15日截止，7/31通知入圍候選人。

John Locke Essay Competition主要考察學生哪些能力？

1) 是否了解哲學，政治，經(jīng)濟，歷史，心理學，神學或法律等學科領域的基本知識結構

2) 是否掌握議論文的基本寫作格式和技巧

3) 是否在文章中展現(xiàn)獨立的思想，清晰的邏輯和辯證的分析方式

一般中學生以上幾項能力都較為薄弱，通過該寫作課程，你將有機會靜下心來辯證地分析觀點，學習英文寫作的邏輯思維和技巧，收獲參與寫作比賽的寶貴經(jīng)歷，并更好地應對IB/AP/A-Level等學術寫作。

課程概要：

10小時寫作課程；

10小時一對一文書指導/修改

課程內容涵蓋：

比賽介紹和議論文寫作導論 Introduction toJohn Locke Essay Competition and Argumentative Writing、過往獲獎文章賞析 Prize-winning essays analysis

立意，結構和提綱Thesis, structure and outline、論證Argumentation、主體段落Body paragraphs、開頭和結尾段Introduction and conclusion等內容。
